For decades I’ve owned & driven manual transmission Saabs. My latest is 34 yo, which I purchased in 2008 with 69K on it; it now has 149K. But with a Saab engine, to me it’s not excessive. However, at the end of 2024, I was suddenly told by another FC repair shop, that my engine had an irreparably damaged crankshaft. I was numb & in disbelief. They shimmed it, but I was advised to drive it minimally, while I car shopped. The next 3.5 mos. were exhaustingly stressful, doing non-stop research & car searches that dragged on. But my engine’s status continued to bug me. Having heard about King’s, which I discovered has a very experienced Saab tech, I wanted to get a 2nd opinion. If he confirmed my engine’s status, I’d accept it. But I was in disbelief to learn last week that it needed a harmonic balancer vs. having been shimmed. I am now delirious to have my functional car. In addition, Steve and Sam couldn’t have been more helpful or supportive. My regret is not having gone to King’s sooner.
